Social Responsibility

At Intersnack we take our social responsibility very seriously, in both our supply chains and the local communities where we operate. We go beyond simply satisfying legal requirements and aim to make a difference. Our focus lies on

  • Ethical sourcing
  • Value Chain Approach
  • Origin and supplier development

Ethical Sourcing

We are committed to making ongoing improvements in working conditions in the countries where we source raw materials. Developing social quality along our global supply chain is a key goal of ours. Therefore we are asking our suppliers across the globe to be assessed against the ETI Base Code, an internationally recognized code of labour practice.

Value Chain Approach

We place great importance in developing enduring and sustainable relationships with suppliers and stakeholders. To effectively tackle the complex challenges in our supply chain will require a massive team effort from suppliers, government and civil society. This is why we engage with different stakeholders to leverage creativity, knowledge and resources to make a positive contribution to society while creating value for our company.

Origin and supplier development

For the last few years, we have engaged in field projects improving the livelihood of communities in Africa and Latin America, creating more transparent value chains and supporting local farmers and processors in gaining and maintaining access to the most demanding markets. This can involve:

  • Improving the capacity and efficiency of our suppliers' operations through the provision of knowledge, training and access to technical support.
  • Working with partners in stakeholder dialogue to build capacity in the region in which our products are grown.
  • Building the efficiency of our supply chains in terms of traceability, risk minimisation and quality.
  • Testing and developing the application of sustainable standards.
  • Supporting farmers' cooperative enterprises.

Our field projects

Our field projects are orientated around our products and our business; they are more than charitable or philanthropic activities. All projects must deliver against one or more key sustainability dimension, and contribute to poverty alleviation. The projects are led by our Purchasing Unit Intersnack Procurement and carried out with different organisations.

Our plans for the future

Like other companies that depend upon raw materials, we face a changing commercial environment as commodity availability, energy costs, regulation and consumer attitudes evolve. We are committed to understanding and responding to the changes in our environment, with a focus upon people, planet and profit.

We cannot do this alone. Enduring a sustainable relationship with our supplier and stakeholders are key for a successful implementation of our values along the supply chain.

It is a journey of continuous improvement that we support through different means and involvement along the supply chains.
