Solar park contributes to our sustainable future

Our new solar generation park marks a significant milestone in Intersnack’s renewable electric energy journey.

As part of Intersnack’s climate commitment, we have a target to use 100% renewable electricity by 2032.

By signing a long-term supply contract (also known as a Power Purchase Agreement or PPA) and committing to purchase part of its electricity output for 15 years, we have helped to finance the construction of a new solar farm in Spain, which is now operational.

Intersnack has contributed approximately 67,000 solar panels, which are capable of generating around 90,000 MWh of electricity per year – the equivalent of nearly 50% of Intersnack’s total European electric energy needs.

This new development allows us to safeguard the use of green electricity in our business for the next 15 years. It forms part of our overall strategy to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50% over the next decade in line with our SBTi targets.

Director of Sustainability, Bas van den Brink, says, "With this long term contract, we are not just greening our own electricity, we are adding additional renewable capacity to the European grid.  We continue our decarbonization journey, step by step, snack by snack.”
